Upper Management Speaks…Finally
October 22nd, 2009 | by jays1992 |By Paul Bruno
The newly minted Jays’ GM, Alex Anthopoulos, is setting about preparing for his off-season, by talking to the players on the current roster and sharing his vision. After the lost 2009 season, that is a critical step. He has even reached out to the team’s free agents, John McDonald and Rod Barajas, in this regard.
It is important for the new GM to give his players a sense of his vision of the immediate future. Their “buy-in” is critical to the resurgence of the Jays.
Tony Viner, President and CEO of Rogers Communications, spoke on the local all-sports station, the Fan 590, yesterday with a clear message that Rogers Communications will be receiving a plan from President Paul Beeston and Antopoulos some time in the next two weeks, at which time they will decide on an appropriate budget and evaluate a three year plan that should provide clarity for the fan base. Among the first points he wanted to address were, “a”, that ownership is committed to winning and, “b”, the team was not for sale.

Viner was very candid in the piece and spoke about the importance of the Jays’ within the context of this large communications entity. That’s music for the ears of Jay’s fans everywhere.
It is positive signs, like these, that the club needs to build upon, in order to restore faith in this ballclub, among their fan base.
