Jays search for new President ends with a surprising choice

Paul Beeston has been in the President’s chair, albeit with the “interim” tag and was charged with finding a permanent replacement, during the past year and a half.If he's happy here, Blue Jays fans should be happy, too

Happily for Jays fans that search ended yesterday when he apparently took a long look in the mirror.
Beeston has agreed to take on the role full-time for the next three years. That should allay any fears that the club was going to continue a downward spiral, at least, in terms of public perception.

It is also significant because, while he wore that interim tag, he was not as focused on the day to day activity with the growth of the team.

That changes today.

In addition, we remind you that Beeston’s profile around the Major Leagues is very high and very positive, dating back to the most successful time’s in franchise history, to say nothing of his time working in the Commissioner’s Office.

We have to believe that he is not the least bit interested in presiding over the decline of this franchise. He must be privy to the backroom discussions that have gone on recently, in charting a course for the Jays’ future. As a result of his awareness of these discussions he hasn’t been turned off by what he knows.

If fact, he is turned on and, for the Jays and their fans, that’s a good thing.
